A SCOTTISH BRIGADE ANTHOLOGY...
Continues on the web....
Memo to all Scottish Brigadier Alumnae and friends of Brigade–
Our collection of memories, bound in a beautiful green and plaid jacket, is now being read and admired by Brigadiers from every decade that our renowned high school drill team marched onto the football field and thrilled audiences with their excellent performances –– an organization that forever endures in the hearts of all who wore the Scottish plaid with a touch of green and white.
Herewith, a sampling of comments received so far:
“It is a lovely book. I have been reading it very slowly as I get very emotional and need to ingest it slowly. It is a revelation to learn so much about how other years of Brigade, both before and after mine (1944 - 1948) have had so many different and also similar experiences.”
– Natalie Butler Tolman, Drill Major, 1948
“I received my book yesterday. I have not been able to put it down for more than a few minutes at a time. So far, I have laughed, cried and felt every emotion that was written about.... I would give anything in the world to see my granddaughter be a part of something like we were. It would teach her so much that I cannot.”
– Cheryl Schiro Whited, Corporal Bugle Corps. 1963
“When I got it, I sat and read most of it. I love it! The comments and stories were priceless! I look forward to sitting down again, with a smile on my face and a heart, warming up with memories.”
–Karen Hawkins Parsons, Captain of Bagpipes, 1961
“It’s so wonderful to have the history, as well as the many memories of that great organization known as the Scottish Brigade, compiled in one book. Its time is gone now, but ‘For one brief shining moment,’ it truly was our Camelot.”
–Rilda Richard Whitmire, Colonel, 1955

Austin class of ‘55, is a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners and a worldwide lecturer. He writes of an intriguing experience when he was visiting Edinburgh, Scotland and he had the opportunity to introduce the Scottish Brigade to members of a group of world-famous Scottish bagpipers. Were they impressed...? Click on the “stories” tab and find out.
Even though the stories posted on our website are not a part of our printed and bound Anthology, printed copies of these stories will be filed in our archives.
Please visit our website from time to time, to keep up with the latest news of the Scottish Brigade Alumnae Association, and to read new stories as they arrive. If you have a story for this series, we’d love to post it. Send it to Nancy Grissom or to me.
