#1 First stop-- the silent auction table, where many interesting articles
were up for bid, including paintings and books by Stephen F. Austin alumnus,
and a variety of items with a Scottish theme.
#2 Diane Wigington Hogan organized the silent auction this year-- no easy
task, and we thank her.
#3 Alumnae visit around tables decorated by current Austin Student Council
members. We are indebted to these fine young people and their Sponsor,
Social Studies teacher Mark Herrissey, for all their hard work at making our
luncheon a success. Overhead projectors provided a glimpse of Scottish
Brigade Majors through the years.
#4, #5, #6 Alumnae love to smile for the camera!
#7 Our new Chairman seems to be looking forward to the job.
#8 Jacque McDonald Royce held the winning lottery ticket for...
#9 a very useful item, which should be a part of every Scottish Brigade
Alumna's wardrobe.
#10 Retiring Chairman Virginia Wimberly Haley and Past Chairman Elsie
Wilmoth.
#11 Frazer Dealy, President of the Stephen F. Austin Alumni Association,
giving his pitch for membership.
#12 Bonnie Damon Torrey, the second Colonel of the Scottish Brigade,
1938-1939. A very special guest!
#13 These ladies must have coordinated their luncheon attire.
#14, #15 Our distinguished Scottish Brigade Alumnae scholarship winners for
2009 - 2010. We wish them all the very best of luck.
#16 Past Chairman Barbara Todd Sargent and incoming Vice Chairman, Nancy
Grissom.
#17 More happy faces. Could anyone doubt that the annual Scottish Brigade
Alumnae luncheon is not to be missed?
#18 The Majors being recognized begin to come to the front....
#19 Now the whole group poses for a photo. For a few, this was the first
annual luncheon they had attended. We hope it will not be the last!
#20 The front entrance of Stephen F. Austin High School, as proud and
beautiful as ever.
#21 A pause to remember those departed alumnus whose names are engraved in
memorial bricks.
#22 Looking out across the front campus, site of first-day performances
since the opening of Stephen F. Austin High School more than seventy years
ago. The sound of the bagpipes, drums and bugles playing, lingers in the
air.
#23 If these halls could talk...!
#24 The gymnasium: site of rainy day Brigade practices when a performance
loomed.
#25 Changing of the guard. Incoming Chairman Suzanne Page Morris presents
Virginia Wimberly Haley with a Scottie cookie bouquet and a silver Scottish
Brigade Alumnae pin, in gratitude for her service.
All monies raised by the Scottish Brigade Alumnae go toward scholarships, and you can contribute to that scholarship fund by making your check for any amount, large or small, payable to the Scottish Brigade Alumnae Scholarship Fund and mailing it to our treasurer, Nancy Parker Grissom, at 8614 Oakford Drive, Houston TX 77024.
