The following are the Beatrice Lytle/Betty Blakely Scottish Brigade Alumnae Association Scholarship recipients for the 2014-2015 school year:

The Scottish Brigade Alumnae Association Scholarship Committee met on April 22, 2013, to select the recipients of the Beatrice Lytle/Betty Blakely Scottish Brigade Alumnae Association Scholarship for the 2013-2014 school years.

Scholarship Co-Chairmen Carolyn Allred Schuenemann and Myrna Gayle Owens Petit examined six renewal applications and 18 new applications.  After careful consideration of these applications, Carolyn and Myrna recommended their selections to the committee.  The recommendations were discussed at the meeting, and a motion was made and seconded to award the following:

Vivian Williams -- $2,000 – Attends Stephen F. Austin University
Laura Briggs Rudolph -- $2,000 – Attends Sam Houston State University
Christine Hill -- $1,500 – Attends Texas A&M University
Jocelyn Garcia -- $1,500 – University of Houston Downtown
Adilene Munoz -- $1,500 – Attends University of Texas
Henry Villeda -- $1,500 – Attends Texas A&M University

 Here are short bios and photos of our scholarship recipients –

Vivian Williams is enrolled at Stephen F. Austin University in
Nacogdoches, Texas – made the Dean’s List maintaining a 3.3
GPA, and interned in first grade at an elementary school.  Majoring
in Early Childhood Education.  She is a volunteer for the Girls/Boys Club.

Lauren Briggs Rudolph is at Sam Houston State University
majoring in English and Education. She was recently married,
and has maintained a 3.5 GPA.  She is the backbone of LDSSA.

Joceyln Garcia graduated 17th in her class at AHS in 2012 with a 3.8 GPA.
She was in the Teaching Magnet Program and is now majoring in Education.
Has a 3.0 GPA at the University of Houston-Downtown, and works 20 hours per week.

Christine Hill graduated 10/684  in 2012 in San Antonio.  Her mother is Gwen Westbrook Hill, the last Colonel of Brigade in 1978.  Christine made the Dean’s List at Texas A&M University with a 3.8 GPA majoring in Management Information Systems.

Adilene Munoz graduated 14th in her class at AHS in 2012 with a 3.89 GPA. She is majoring in Social Work.   Has a 2.4 GPA and does volunteer work with people with disabilities.

Henry Villeda graduated with a 3.6 GPA at AHS in 2012, and is pursuing
a major in Architecture.  He was the only SFA student to participate
in Genesys and placed 2nd place in ACE.  At Texas A&M University
he has a 3.3 GPA, and is a role model for his siblings.

Hannah Horick will be attending the Honors College at
the University of Texas and majoring in Political Science
and International Relations. She was 19th in her class of
605 with a 3.7 GPA.  She is the granddaughter of our own
Carolyn Crenwelge Endsley ’60.

Heather Pearson will be attending Sam Houston State University
to major in Forensics.  She graduated with a 3.7 GPA, and is
the niece of Myrna Gayle Owens Petit ’61.

Alma Andrade graduated from AHS 39th in her class of 454
with a 3.5 GPA.  She plans a major in Social Work.

Diana Estrada was 13th in the class at AHS with a 3.9 GPA,
and plans to major in Biology and Nursing.
